Pearl Shape

Round: The shape is a standard round; the diameter and symmetry show minimal variation. The round pearl also the most valuable and sought-after shape among consumers.

Semi Round/ Near Round: It is very close to the round pearl, nearly indistinguishable to the naked eye. It is also a highly cost-effective choice.

Drop/Oval/Rice: Drop, oval and rice pearls, these are three similarly shaped pearls. Exhibit extended lines on both sides, resembling a water droplet. Their elegant and unique shape make them highly desirable. When it comes a smooth drop-shaped, it offers excellent value.

Baroque: Baroque pearls also known as irregular pearls, have unique and non-uniform shapes with no two alike. In recent years, they have gained popularity due to their distinctive and individual appearance.

Circle Baroque: It typically have a spiral pattern on the surface. They are most found in South Sea White Pearls and Tahitian Pearls.

Lustre

The iridescent colours shimmering on or just below the surface of pearls. While all pearls have a body colour, only some exhibit overtones, lustre, or both.

Gem: Exhibits a luminous, reflective surface with distinct and crisp reflections. The highest level of pearl brightness.

Brilliant (AAA): Displays a radiant, reflective surface with sharp reflections.

Near Brilliant (AAA-AA): Shows a bright, reflective surface with clear but slightly less sharp reflections.

Bright (AA): Presents a luminous, reflective surface with well-defined reflections.

Reflective (AA-A): Has a surface that reflects light adequately with average clarity. (The pearls we offer do not exhibit this particular luster.)

Surface

Imperfections, common imperfections on the surface of pearls. Pearls are organic products, so the surface will inevitably have some irregularities. Common imperfections include bumps, depressions, pinpoints, and growth lines.

Flawless: A clean surface free of blemishes or containing nearly invisible surface blemishes that are difficult to see without close examination.

Near Flawless: A nearly flawless surface with minor blemishes concentrated in one area.

Slightly Flawed: A slightly flawed surface with minor blemishes visible in multiple areas.

Blemished: Flaws covering the majority of the pearl's surface. (The pearls we offer do not include any with imperfections of this level.)

Nacre

Lustre is closely related to the quality of the nacre. If the nucleus beneath the nacre is visible or the pearl's appearance is dull and hazy, it can be inferred that the nacre layer is thin. This affects both the lustre and the durability of the pearl.

Smooth: A silky, even surface finish without any rippling.

Near Smooth: An almost smooth surface finish with slight rippling effects.

Rippling: A surface finish with noticeable rippling effects.

Heavy Rippling: A surface finish with pronounced rippling effects.
